About Us

Stepping Stones Therapy is a pediatric speech-language and occupational therapy practice in Bethesda, Maryland that provides comprehensive evaluations and treatment to children of all ages. We are able to address a wide range of communication issues including:

  • Articulation difficulties/disorders

  • Speech motor planning disorders (i.e., Childhood Apraxia of Speech)

  • Expressive and receptive language deficits

  • Autism Spectrum Disorders

  • Pragmatic (social) language difficulties

  • Other developmental delays/disorders

We provide occupational therapy evaluations and treatment to children of all ages as well. Our occupational therapists are able to address issues with:

  • Fine motor skills (manipulating objects, cutting, buttoning, etc.)

  • Gross motor skills (walking, running, jumping, etc.)

  • Motor planning (sequencing complex motor movements)

  • Handwriting skills

  • Posture, muscle tone, balance, body movement

  • Visual-spatial skills

  • Sensory integration (to improve over-sensitivity or under-reaction to touch, sounds, etc.)

  • Attention and arousal (to improve movement/activity levels)

  • Auditory processing, listening skills

All of the dedicated and enthusiastic speech-language pathologists at Stepping Stones have:

  • Master's degrees
  • Maryland licenses

  • Certificates of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language Hearing Association

Many of our speech therapists have received training in:

  • PROMPT

  • Oral-motor therapy techniques

  • The Phono-Graphix Reading Program

  • The Kaufman Program

The occupational therapists at Stepping Stones are Maryland licensed and are members of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
